For golfers, Riverside County’s Temecula Valley offers an incredible array of golf courses, associated recreational activities and golf course properties. The Temecula Valley is home to nearly two-dozen courses ranging from Country Club-level facilities to executive courses and every thing in between. Perhaps the best known is the private Bear Creek Course designed by Hall of Fame golfer Jack Nicklaus. The course is nestled among the foothills just below the Santa Rosa Plato and is surrounded by fairway-frontage homes and lots, large estate properties with city views, sprawling ranch and horse properties and condominiums and townhouses. The newest addition in the area is the The Journey At Pechanga facility in Temecula. The course winds its way over the Temecula River and ascends its way to the foothills overseeing the entire valley. The course was designed by Arthur Hills opened in 2008. The course is adjacent to the Four Diamond Pechanga Casino and Resort located just to the southeast of Temecula. Another top-ranked course in Temecula is the RedHawk Golf Club. Designed by Ron Fream/Mark Lamaro, the RedHawk golf course opened in 1991 and features 7,180 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 in the area. The course is known for its well-manicured fairways and greens and flowering gardens and landscape that offer unbelievable beauty. The 18-hole "Southern California Golf Association Members" course at the SCGA Golf Course facility in Murrieta was designed by Robert Trent Jones. The course is the official facility for SCGA members, but is open to the public. The course opened in 1987. Over the years, the course and surrounding land has undergone numerous improvements and development. There are a number of new communities featuring houses and homes with fairway views, custom properties, simple tract housing, condominiums and more. The Temecula Creek Inn is located just off the Interstate 15 and Highway 79 intersections and offers three nine hole courses that weave between the base of Mount Palimar and the Temecula River and features some of the most sweeping and spectacular views in the valley. Nearby, the Menifee Lakes Country Club facility in Menifee, just north of Temecula, offers threee nine-hole courses working its way around more than a half dozen lakes. Over the past five years, the area has seen booming development around the courses with numerous new communities featuring fairway-front homes, condos, and rental units. Other local courses in the area include the Cross Creek Golf Club, the Temecu Hills Country Club and the private Canyon Lake Country Club. Two local executive courses include the California Oaks Golf Course in Murrieta and the Rancho Del Cielo Golf Course in Temecula. Both are located in Adult Communities. |
